Congresswoman Abigail Spanberger rejects corporate PAC money
Freitas has taken $28,000 from corporate special interests, including from the insurance industry
End Citizens United (ECU) launched a $100,000 direct mail campaign in Virginia’s Seventh Congressional District that exposes Nick Freitas’ history of protecting corporate special interests over Virginia families. Freitas has taken $28,000 from corporate entities, corporate PACs and LLCs. He also took thousands of dollars from the insurance industry and then voted to deny coverage for Virginians with pre-existing conditions.
“If Nick Freitas had it his way, 741,000 Virginians would lose access to health insurance in the middle of a global pandemic,” said ECU President Tiffany Muller. “Freitas has put his corporate special interest donors over Virginia families time and again. Congresswoman Abigail Spanberger went to Washington to unrig the corrupt system that politicians like Freitas enable. From passing the For The People Act, the most sweeping anti-corruption, voting rights and ethics bill in a generation, to standing with Virginians with pre-existing conditions and passing a bill to lower the cost of prescription drugs, Spanberger has the receipts for Virginians to trust she’s working for them. Nick Freitas doesn’t.”
The first piece of the ad campaign drops October 15, and the program will run through October 23.
Unlike dark money groups, ECU is entirely transparent and every penny is disclosed with the Federal Election Commission. Unlike Super PACs, ECU adheres to contribution limits and is entirely grassroots-funded with an average contribution of $14.
