Wendy Davis rejects corporate PAC and lobbyist money
Congressman Roy has taken $188,000 from corporate PACs
End Citizens United (ECU) launched a $92,000 direct mail campaign in Texas’ 21st Congressional District. The mailers expose Congressman Chip Roy’s failed leadership and track record of siding with the corporate special interests and lobbyists that bankroll his campaign.
In addition to taking $188,000 from corporate PACs since 2018, Roy has taken $10,000 from big pharma lobbyists, and voted against legislation to lower the cost of prescription drugs for Texans. He also voted against extending unemployment benefits during the COVID-19 pandemic, but voted for corporate bailouts. Chip Roy’s history of putting corporations ahead of Texans earned him a spot on ECU’s Big Money 20, the group’s top incumbents to defeat in 2020 who benefit most from the corrupt establishment in Washington.

“Without even completing a full term in Congress, Chip Roy has already proven his loyalties lie with Big Money,” said ECU President Tiffany Muller. “His siding with corporate special interests and promoting their agenda is exactly what voters hate about Washington. Roy is a career political operative who has worked to rig the system in favor of the wealthy and well-connected, leaving Texans behind to fend for themselves. Wendy Davis has spent her career fighting for Texas families, and has vowed to reject corporate PAC money. Chip Roy can’t say the same: he’s taken over $188,000 from corporate PACs, and is a rubber stamp for their agenda in Congress.”
The ad campaign is a three-piece mail program that will run through October 21.
Unlike dark money groups, ECU is entirely transparent and every penny is disclosed with the Federal Election Commission. Unlike Super PACs, ECU adheres to contribution limits and is entirely grassroots-funded with an average contribution of $14.
