End Citizens United // Let America Vote Action Fund President Tiffany Muller released the following statement on the new elections caucus headed by Reps. Mike Garcia (CA-25) and Claudia Tenney (NY-22):
“This new caucus is just the latest scam and next step of the Big Lie about the 2020 elections. It is designed to promote creating more barriers to voting, especially for people of color.
“Representatives Mike Garcia and Claudia Tenney posturing themselves as election reform champions is laughable, and it’s a scam. Instead of fighting to pass critical legislation that would actually protect all Americans’ freedom to vote equally, Reps. Garcia and Tenney have worked to promote the Big Lie about the 2020 election in a desperate attempt to justify erecting more barriers to voting. Their new caucus is nothing but another cover to support voter suppression in order to hold onto power. Meanwhile, House and Senate Democrats are advancing bills that protect Americans’ freedom to vote, like the For the People Act and John R. Lewis Voting Rights Act. There’s only one party that has demonstrated a commitment to ‘free, fair, accurate and transparent elections’ and it’s not the one that Reps. Garcia and Tenney are a part of.”
