NEW POLL: For the People Act Remains Popular Nationwide; Voters Support Reforming Senate Rules to Protect Democracy

Aug 16, 2021

Key Provisions – the DISCLOSE Act and Ending Partisan Gerrymandering – Overwhelmingly Supported by Independent and Republican Voters

new national poll from Public Policy Polling, commissioned by End Citizens United // Let America Vote Action Fund, shows that the For the People Act (H.R. 1/S. 1) maintains overwhelming bipartisan support nationwide and voters favor reforming the filibuster to pass the bill by a wide margin. The new polling is in line with what other national polls have indicated–including polling from allies of Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell.

The poll found that voters support key provisions of the For the People Act that Republicans, led by Senator Ted Cruz, blocked last week. Among those proposals were a measure to eliminate partisan gerrymandering and another that would shine a light on dark money.
