Kim leads Menendez 63%-10% with New Jersey Democrats in a head-to-head matchup
ECU // LAV was the first national group to endorse Kim’s Senate campaign
A new poll End Citizens United // Let America Vote commissioned from Public Policy Polling shows Congressman Andy Kim (D-NJ) taking a commanding lead in the New Jersey Democratic primary for U.S. Senate, both in a head-to-head and a three-way primary race.
“Congressman Kim is building the strongest campaign, offering the sharpest contrast, and showing he has what it takes to win,” said ECU // LAV President Tiffany Muller. “The message from New Jersey Democrats is loud and clear: they strongly support Congressman Kim for U.S. Senate over corrupt Senator Menendez.”
Kim led Menendez in a head-to-head matchup 63 percent to 10 percent. In a three-way race between Kim, Menendez and First Lady of New Jersey Tammy Murphy, who it has been reported is considering running, Kim leads with 42 percent followed by Murphy with 19 percent and Sen. Menendez with five percent. Kim’s favorable to unfavorable rating was 54 percent to six percent, while Sen. Menendez’s favorable to unfavorable rating was 14 percent to 67 percent. The poll of 502 likely Democratic voters in New Jersey was conducted from October 3-4 and has a margin of error of +/- 4.4 percent.
ECU // LAV was the first national group to endorse Congressman Kim’s campaign for the U.S. Senate, following the shocking indictment of U.S. Senator Bob Menendez alleged rampant corruption. ECU // LAV, Congressman Kim, and others have called for Senator Menendez to immediately resign.
Congressman Kim has been a leader in the fight against corruption and for pro-democracy reforms. Since his first campaign in 2018, of which ECU // LAV was top supporter, Congressman Kim has refused to take a dime of corporate PAC money, and earned an “A+” on ECU // LAV’s 2022 legislative scorecard.
ECU // LAV is dedicated to combating the two biggest challenges facing our democracy: the corrosive impact of Big Money and attempts to block access to the ballot box. Since its founding in 2015, the group has had over 1 million donors and raised $200 million, with an average donation of just $14. The group has more than four million members nationwide.
