New Poll Shows For the People Act Continues to have Widespread, Bipartisan Support Nationwide

Jun 17, 2021

Roughly 70% of voters support H.R.1/S.1, with three-fifths agreeing on the urgent need to pass the elections reform package.

June 17, 2021 – A new poll from Navigator Research re-emphasized the American people’s continued support for the For the People Act (H.R.1/S.1). The poll, conducted from June 10-14 with 1,001 registered voters, found that 68% of Americans support the voting rights and ethics reform package. Voters of both parties backed key provisions of the For the People Act with over 80% support, such as requiring dark money groups to disclose their donors and ending partisan gerrymandering.

This polling is in line with other national polling on the For the People Act, including polling from allies of Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell and the Koch Brothers. The bill also has support in West Virginia and Arizona.

The poll found that as Republican legislatures across the country ramp up their assault on democracy through dangerous and restrictive voter suppression laws, more and more Americans are seeing the urgency of passing the For the People Act. Nearly 60% of Americans say passing the For the People Act before the 2022 midterm elections is urgent.

This re-confirmation of the broad, bipartisan support that the For the People Act enjoys adds additional momentum to the bill before Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer brings it to a vote on the Senate floor next week.
