Nicole Malliotakis Bought Stock in Companies Killing New Yorkers

Aug 25, 2020

In Albany, Nicole Malliotakis voted against funding to train first responders in how to save someone experiencing an opioid overdose and against Department of Health aid to localities for opioid addiction, treatment, and school overdose prevention.

“New Yorkers scratching their heads at Nicole Malliotakis’ votes against funding to battle the opioid crisis should know that she was protecting her investment portfolio at the same time,” said Tiffany Muller, End Citizens United President. “Johnson & Johnson is being sued by New York state for its role in the opioid crisis and has already paid hundreds of millions in opioid lawsuit settlements. The opioid crisis is a massive problem for New Yorkers, but acknowledging the crisis could have hurt Nicole’s bottom line.”

According to Malliotakis’ Annual Statements of Financial Disclosure filed with the NY Legislative Ethics Commission between 2016 and 2019, Malliotakis has owned up to $19,999 worth of common stock in Johnson & Johnson between 2015 and 2018. She still owns stock in Johnson & Johnson today.
