NY-22: End Citizens United and Let America Vote Stand with Rep. Anthony Brindisi Heading into the General Election

Jun 24, 2020

End Citizens United (ECU) and Let America Vote (LAV) President Tiffany Muller released the following statement on news that Representative Anthony Brindisi (NY-22) is advancing to the general election:

“Congressman Anthony Brindisi has already established himself as an anti-corruption leader, a refreshing and much needed change from Claudia Tenney’s corrupt tenure in office. Anthony is standing up to corporate special interests who too often take advantage of working people, whether it’s Big Pharma and high drug prices or cable companies gouging consumers. Anthony ran on a platform of fixing our broken campaign finance system in 2018, ensuring that Big Money special interests don’t drown out the voices of New Yorkers. Anthony’s campaign is powered by small donors and we look forward to re-electing Congressman Brindisi so that he can continue the incredible work he’s started.”

ECU endorsed Brindisi’s re-election campaign in May 2019 because of his commitment to end the corrupting influence of money in politics. Brindisi, who ran on a platform of reform in 2018, rejects corporate PAC money and showed leadership in the passage of the For the People Act (H.R.1). The reform group has four million members nationwide, including 6,800 in NY-22, and is entirely grassroots-funded with an average donation of just $14.
