“Peter Meijer’s entrance signals an escalation of a long, chaotic Michigan Senate primary for Republicans. Between his support of the 2017 tax giveaway that padded his family’s pockets, and his support of dangerous abortion bans—with no exceptions for rape or incest—Meijer is too extreme for Michigan. But one thing that unites all Republican candidates are their records of putting the wealthy elite and corporations above working families.
“While Meijer, Craig, and Florida-man Mike Rogers have shown they’re out-of-step with working families, Elissa Slotkin continues to prove herself as accountable only to Michiganders, having never taken a dime from corporate PACs. She has spent her career fighting to ensure the government reflects the voices of the voters—not the wealthy elite. While the Republican candidates focus on fighting one another, Slotkin will continue to fight for democracy.”
