Rep. Chip Roy, a Big Money 20 incumbent, received a total of $20,500 from corporate PACs in Q4
In 2019, Roy received over $40,000 from corporate PACs
In the fourth quarter of 2019, Rep. Chip Roy (TX-21) took $20,500 from corporate PACs. Over the course of 2019, Roy took a whopping total of over $40,000 from corporate PACs. Roy’s reliance on corporate PACs underscores his campaign’s lack of support from Texans and his dependence on corporate special interests.
“Rep. Roy has worked to advance corporate special interests in Washington over Texans. Now, in the midst of a tough reelection, Roy is relying on them to boost his flailing campaign. Texans know these contributions are why their voices are not heard in Washington,” said End Citizens United President Tiffany Muller.
Rep. Chip Roy’s reliance on corporate PAC money highlights how he has put corporate special interests over the needs of Texans. While Texans are crippled by the rising cost of prescription drugs, Roy voted against the Lower Drug Costs Now Act of 2019 (H.R. 3). H.R. 3 would empower the Department of Health and Human Services to negotiate annual prices for the 250 most expensive prescriptions on the market and establish a maximum price on negotiated drugs.
ECU’s Big Money 20 campaign is focused on holding incumbents who benefit most from the corrupt establishment in Washington accountable by showing voters how politicians put corporate special interest donors ahead of the people they’re supposed to represent.
