Q4: Corporate PACs Continue to Prop Up Rep. Rodney Davis

Feb 04, 2020

Rep. Rodney Davis, a Big Money 20 incumbent, received a total of $86,500 from corporate PACs in Q4

In 2019, Davis received over $400,000 from corporate PACs

In the fourth quarter of 2019, Rep. Rodney Davis (IL-13) took $86,500 from corporate PACs, including $8,500 from Big Pharma and health insurance PACs. Over the course of 2019, Davis took a whopping $400,000 from corporate PACs. Rep. Davis’ reliance on corporate PACs underscores his campaign’s lack of support from Illinoisans and his dependence on corporate special interests. In 2019, twenty-one percent of Davis’ total contributions came from corporate PACs.

“Rep. Davis has worked to advance corporate special interests in Washington over Illinoisans. Now, in the midst of a tough reelection, Davis is relying on them to boost his flailing campaign. Illinoisans know these contributions are why their voices are not heard in Washington,” said End Citizens United President Tiffany Muller.

Rep. Rodney Davis’ reliance on corporate PAC money highlights how he has put corporate special interests over the needs of Illinosans. While Illinosans are crippled by the rising cost of prescription drugs, Davis voted against the Lower Drug Costs Now Act of 2019 (H.R. 3). H.R. 3 would empower the Department of Health and Human Services to negotiate annual prices for the 250 most expensive prescriptions on the market and establish a maximum price on negotiated drugs.

ECU’s Big Money 20 campaign is focused on holding incumbents who benefit most from the corrupt establishment in Washington accountable by showing voters how politicians put corporate special interest donors ahead of the people they’re supposed to represent. ECU is a traditional political action committee (PAC) with more than four million members, including 6,800 in Illinois’ Thirteenth Congressional District.
