Q4: Corporate PACs Continue to Prop Up Rep. Spano

Feb 04, 2020

Rep. Ross Spano, a Big Money 20 incumbent, received a total of $6,000 from corporate PACs in Q4

In 2019, Spano received a total of $60,000 from corporate PACs

In the fourth quarter of 2019, Rep. Ross Spano (FL-15) took $6,000 from corporate PACs. Over the course of 2019, Spano took a whopping total of $60,000 from corporate PACs. Rep. Spano’s reliance on corporate PACs underscores his campaign’s lack of support from Floridians and his dependence on corporate special interests.

“Rep. Spano has worked to advance corporate special interests in Washington over Floridians. Now, in the midst of a tough reelection, Spano is relying on them to boost his flailing campaign. Floridians know these contributions are why their voices are not heard in Washington,” said End Citizens United President Tiffany Muller.

Rep. Ross Spano’s reliance on corporate PAC money highlights how he has put corporate special interests over the needs of Floridians. While Floridians are crippled by the rising cost of prescription drugs, Spano voted against the Lower Drug Costs Now Act of 2019 (H.R. 3). H.R. 3 would empower the Department of Health and Human Services to negotiate annual prices for the 250 most expensive prescriptions on the market and establish a maximum price on negotiated drugs.

ECU’s Big Money 20 campaign is focused on holding incumbents who benefit most from the corrupt establishment in Washington accountable by showing voters how politicians put corporate special interest donors ahead of the people they’re supposed to represent. ECU is a traditional political action committee (PAC) with more than four million members, including 6,100 in Florida’s Fifteenth Congressional District.
