Reminder: Nick Freitas Has Taken $28,000 From Corporate Entities, Corporate PACs and LLCs

Sep 17, 2020

As we enter the final stretch of the 2020 election cycle, with candidates squaring off in debates and making their final pitches to voters, it’s important to remember that Nick Freitas has cashed $28,000 from corporate entities, corporate PACs and LLCs over the course of his career, including from tobacco giant Altria.

“While Virginia voters call for an end to the rampant corruption and pay-to-play culture in Washington, Nick Freitas is taking sides with the corporate special interests that fund his campaign. The fact that he’s already taken $28,000 from corporate special interests tells you everything you need to know about who he’s running to represent,” said End Citizens United President Tiffany Muller. “Contributions like these are the reason why peoples’ voices aren’t heard in Washington.”

During the 2018 election cycle, corporate PACs spent over $419 million to influence elections, which includes $185 million contributed directly to candidates running for office. That’s 40% of all PAC giving, making it the largest source of PAC giving in the country.
