Republican Rep. David Valadao Puts Corporate Donors Ahead of Creating Jobs

Nov 08, 2021

Republican Rep. David Valadao voted on Friday against the INVEST in America Act, a historic, bipartisan investment in creating millions of good-paying American jobs and fixing our nation’s crumbling infrastructure that has support from an overwhelming majority of Americans, including 60% of Republicans.

“Instead of creating millions of good-paying jobs and helping hard-working families recover from the pandemic, Rep. Valadao chose to kowtow to the billionaires and corporate special interests who backed his campaign,” said End Citizens United // Let America Vote President Tiffany Muller. “The people of California will remember how Valadao is so beholden to his corporate donors that he voted against creating jobs and rebuilding much-needed roads and bridges in their communities.”

Several billionaire-funded dark money groups opposed this historic investment in American workers and spent millions of dollars lobbying against it, specifically because billionaires and corporations will have to pay their fair share in taxes. Those dark money groups include:

  • The Heritage Foundation

  • Club for Growth

  • Coalition to Protect American Workers

  • FreedomWorks

  • Taxpayers Protection Alliance

Rep. Valadao has long put his corporate donors ahead of the American people. In 2017, Valadao supported giving corporations a $2 trillion dollar tax handout, while raising taxes on middle class American families.
