In a recent interview, Johnson takes credit for confirming Justices who overturned Roe v. Wade
In a recent interview with Brian Kilmeade, Senator Ron Johnson claimed credit and bragged about his role in the recent Supreme Court Dobbs decision overturning Roe v. Wade, saying “I’m fully supportive of what the Supreme Court did. I obviously confirmed the justices that handed down that correct decision.” Extremist dark money groups spent nearly $600 million on efforts to push through Brett Kavanaugh, Neil Gorsuch, Amy Coney Barrett, and other conservative judges into the courts.
Johnson has long pushed to overturn Roe v. Wade and prevent people in Wisconsin from accessing the healthcare they need, while downplaying the effects of rolling back reproductive freedoms. When discussing the impact repealing Roe v. Wade would have, Johnson stated: “I don’t view that [as] such a huge threat to women’s health. I think – I think things would be just fine.” Johnson has also said if individuals don’t like the abortion laws in their state, they simply “can move” and endorsed a complete ban on abortion in Wisconsin.
This is in stark contrast to Lt. Governor Mandela Barnes, who supports codifying the right to choose into law and will fight to ensure that “no woman ever has to live in fear or be restricted from making decisions about their own reproductive health.”
