Ron Johnson Sells Out American Workers

Aug 07, 2022

Johnson voted against Inflation Reduction Act after taking millions from corporate special interests

Today, Ron Johnson sold out American workers and families in order to curry favor with his corporate special interest backers. After taking $2.6 million from Big Pharma, Big Oil and other corporate special interests, he voted against the Inflation Reduction Act that would help millions of Wisconsin workers.

The bill:

  • Lowers prescription drug and health care costs by allowing Medicare to negotiate prescription drug prices and extending Affordable Care Act benefits to millions of Americans.
  • Forces Billionaires and Big Corporations to Pay What they Owe by closing tax loopholes, ensuring big corporations pay taxes at a minimum what small businesses do and strengthening IRS enforcement so billionaires and corporations can’t cheat on their taxes.
  • Makes Historic Investment in Energy and American Manufacturing by supporting domestic clean energy development that will reduce carbon emissions, while creating millions of manufacturing jobs.
  • Reduces the Deficit by billions of dollars over the next 10 years.

“Johnson has proven time and again that he is so caught up in doing the bidding of corporate special interests, he’s willing to sink Wisconsin’s economy and workers,” said End Citizens United // Let America Vote President Tiffany Muller. “There is no clearer contrast — Mandela Barnes will fight for the working people of Wisconsin, while Johnson will continue to side with corporate special interests and partisan extremists.”

Johnson has a long record of putting special interests and his own self-serving agenda ahead of of Wisconsin including: passing a corporate tax cut to benefit himself and donors, saying Wisconsin had enough jobs after he wouldn’t fight to keep 1000 Oshkosh Defense jobs in the state and voting to repeatedly raise health care costs for working people.
