After End Citizens United (ECU) went up on air in Montana blasting East Coast Developer Matt Rosendale for rubber stamping a 23 percent health insurance rate increase that benefited his insurance companies donors, Rosendale flubbed his attempt to respond.
In his digital response ad, Rosendale attempted to cover up his long record supporting policies that would raise costs and even strip protections for pre-existing conditions for Montanans, all to please his big donors.
Here’s the record Rosendale is attempting to hide from voters:
-
Rosendale was accused of playing “a political game” with Montanans health care, taking tens of thousands in contributions from the insurance industry and ruling a whopping 23% health insurance rate increase was reasonable.
-
Rosendale supported a partisan tax law that gave huge tax breaks to some of Rosendale’s out-of-state campaign mega-donors, despite the fact that Montanans would see health insurance premiums rise by nearly 20 percent and 46,000 Montanans would lose their health insurance.
-
As insurance commissioner, Rosendale opposed Montana’s Medicaid expansion plan, voting against it time and time again even though it provided health care coverage to nearly 100,000 Montanans and was critical in helping veterans and other Montanans in the fight against drug addiction. At the same time, Rosendale’s campaign has already taken over $10,000 from pharmaceutical companies.
-
Rosendale supported short-term plans despite the fact that they aren’t required to cover pre-existing conditions and many wouldn’t even cover prescription drugs, maternity care, drug abuse treatment, mental health care, maternity care – which begs the question what would Rosendale’s short term plans cover? Meanwhile, Rosendale’s current campaign has already accepted $22,550 from the insurance industry.
-
While Rosendale has sold out Montanans, his campaign has benefited from over $4 million of outside spending, including major aid from super PACs that joined Rosendale in pushing for ACA repeal and tax reform.
