End Citizens United // Let America Vote President Tiffany Muller released the following statement after Texas Democrats announced they would walk out of the legislature and leave the state of Texas to prevent passage of Texas Republicans’ anti-voter legislation:
“For the second time in three months, Texas Democrats are heroically doing what is necessary to protect voting rights by leaving the state to break quorum and prevent passage of one of the most dangerous assaults on voting rights.
“The litany of anti-voter legislation that self-serving Republicans and dark money groups are advancing in states nationwide–like the proposals in Texas–will not stop unless Congress steps in. We’re proud to stand with Texas Democrats in calling on the Senate to act quickly and immediately pass the For the People Act to protect Americans’ freedom to vote and counteract these un-American and dangerous attacks on our democracy.”
