107 candidates rejecting corporate PAC money have advanced to the general election so far

Following last night’s primaries, a total of 107 Democratic candidates rejecting corporate PAC money have advanced to the general election in November so far. End Citizens United (ECU) continues to work with candidates joining the movement to forgo corporate PAC money and instead run people-powered, reform-focused campaigns. These reformers are proving that there’s an alternative to the Big Money machine that fuels the corrupt status quo in Washington, and they’re proving that it’s a salient issue.

107 No Corporate PAC Candidates Have Advanced to the General Election

  • 31 No Corporate PAC incumbents have advanced to the general election

    • 2 Senate incumbents

    • 29 House incumbents

  • 76 No Corporate PAC Challengers have advanced to the general election

    • 8 Senate challengers

    • 68 House challengers

75% of Candidates on the DCCC’s Red to Blue List are Rejecting Corporate PAC Money

  • In the 2016 cycle, only 6% of Red to Blue candidates rejected corporate PAC money

  • In the 2018 cycle, 72% of Red to Blue candidates rejected corporate PAC money

  • In the 2020 cycle so far, 75% of Red to Blue candidates are rejecting corporate PAC money

Frontline Member Fundraising through Q1 of 2020 (stats for Q2 will be updated once all filings are public):

  • In Q1 of 2020, Democrats rejecting corporate PAC money in the most competitive battleground districts outraised candidates who accept corporate PAC contributions by an average of $137,500

  • This marked the fifth consecutive quarter where DCCC Frontline Members refusing corporate PAC contributions outraised Frontline Members who accepted them

  • Through Q1 of the 2020 cycle overall, no corporate PAC Frontline members outraised members who take corporate PAC money by an average of $477,500
