End Citizens United (ECU) and Let America Vote (LAV) President Tiffany Muller released the following statement on Senator Thom Tillis (R-NC) being embroiled in Postmaster General Louis DeJoy’s straw donor scheme:
“It comes as no surprise that Thom Tillis is embroiled in Louis DeJoy’s illegal straw donor scheme considering he’s been silent on the mega-donor Postmaster’s orchestrated attacks on the Post Office. Tillis has always been too weak to stand up to his party, and now we have yet another example of Tillis’ corrupt ties. He took almost $40,000 in straw donations as part of DeJoy’s illegal scheme to rise in Republican politics. Now, in the midst of a global pandemic where mail delays are threatening North Carolinians’ right to vote and hurting veterans, Tillis is turning a blind eye to the Tar Heel state. This is a textbook example of corruption, and North Carolinians deserve a senator who will fight to unrig the broken system in Washington and put their needs first.”
