VA-07: End Citizens United and Let America Vote Stand with Rep. Abigail Spanberger Heading into the General Election

Jun 24, 2020

End Citizens United (ECU) and Let America Vote (LAV) President Tiffany Muller released the following statement on news that Representative Abigail Spanberger (VA-07) is advancing to the general election:

“Congresswoman Abigail Spanberger is already unrigging the broken system in Washington. She won this race in 2018 by rejecting corporate PAC money and proving to Virginians that she’d be accountable to them, not corporate special interests. In Congress, Abigail has followed through on that promise by voting to lower the cost of prescription drug prices and co-sponsoring the For the People Act, a bill aimed at rooting out corruption in both parties. We look forward to re-electing Congresswoman Spanberger so that she can continue the incredible work she’s started.”

ECU endorsed Spanberger’s re-election campaign in March 2019 as part of the group’s first round of House incumbent endorsements. Spanberger, who ran on a platform of reform in 2018, rejects corporate PAC money and showed leadership in the passage of the For the People Act (H.R.1). The reform group has four million members nationwide, including 7,000 in Virginia’s Seventh Congressional District, and is entirely grassroots-funded with an average donation of just $14.
