Wall Street Doesn’t Want to Hold Seditionists Accountable

Feb 02, 2021

Despite the renewed focus on corporate America’s influence over politics following the deadly assault on the United States Capitol Building–incited in part by eight Republican Senators–top corporations on Wall Street are hoping their contributions to the Senate seditionists are forgotten.

The eight Republican Senators include: Sen. Tommy Tuberville (R-AL), Sen. Rick Scott (R-FL), Sen. Roger Marshall (R-KS), Sen. John Kennedy (R-LA), Sen. Cindy Hyde-Smith (R-MS), Sen. Josh Hawley (R-MO), Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) and Sen. Cynthia Lummis (R-WY).

“The deadly insurrection on January 6th marks one of the darkest days in American history and those responsible must be held accountable. Wall Street can’t continue to hope their donations to the eight Republican Senators who lied about the results of our elections go unnoticed. If corporations on Wall Street don’t want to bear the stain of that sad day, they must demand a refund for their donations immediately. No one gets a free pass when it comes to damaging our democracy,” said End Citizens United President Tiffany Muller.

While some corporations have cut off or asked for refunds from members of Congress who attempted to overturn the election results, and some have engaged in a PR stunt by “pausing” all contributions, many top banking corporations have yet to take any action, hoping this blows over and that things will return to business as usual.

Below is a list of some of the top corporations on Wall Street that have given to the eight Senators that voted to overturn the election results over the course of their careers and have yet to pause their contributions or demand refunds.
