At last night’s debate, when Elissa Slotkin challenged Tom Barrett to join her in rejecting corporate PAC money and banning corporate PACs altogether, Barrett defended his corporate backers. He argued for their ability to keep jacking up prices on Michigan families and using their money and influence to pad their bottom lines.
“It’s no wonder Barrett wants to keep letting corporate PACs bankroll politicians–it’s how he got elected to the state Senate, where 90% of his donations were from corporate PACs and special interests,” said End Citizens United // Let America Vote President Tiffany Muller.“The only candidate in this race serious about ending corporate influence in politics is Elissa Slotkin, who’s never taken a dime of corporate PAC money and is an original co-sponsor of the bill to ban corporate PACs.”
