ECU Statement on Senate Vote to Cover Up Trump’s Actions

Feb 05, 2020

End Citizens United Action Fund President Tiffany Muller released the following statement on the Senate’s vote to cover up President Trump’s two impeachment charges, abuse of power and obstruction of Congress:

“President Trump abused his power by soliciting foreign interference and obstructed Congress for his own personal and political gain. The House did their job and conducted a thorough, impartial, and comprehensive investigation, but the Senate failed to do the same. There was a bipartisan vote to convict and remove the President but a partisan cover up prevented his removal. If Senate Republicans won’t hold Trump accountable, they must stop stonewalling critical bills to protect the integrity of our elections and end the dominance of big money in politics. It’s time to allow a vote on H.R. 1 and other House-passed bills to strengthen our democracy. It’s up to the American people to hold President Trump and his co-conspirators in the Senate accountable for this blatant corruption.
