End Citizens United Endorses Randy Bryce for Congress

Aug 16, 2017

Bryce Stands in Sharp Contrast to Speaker Paul Ryan, the Emblem of Big Money

End Citizens United (ECU) today endorsed Randy Bryce for Congress. A staunch advocate for campaign finance reform, Bryce is committed to unrigging the system and making Washington work for all Americans. Bryce is running to unseat Speaker of the House Paul Ryan, one of the strongest defenders of the Big Money machine in Washington, in Wisconsin’s 1st congressional district.

“Randy Bryce stands as a champion of the people, and we’re proud to endorse him in his run against Speaker Paul Ryan,” said Tiffany Muller, president and executive director of End Citizens United. “Randy has been outspoken about our broken system, and he understands the corrupting influence of Big Money in politics, a sharp contrast to Paul Ryan – the definition of a career politician stuck deep in the pockets of his mega-donors and special interest groups. We’re excited to stand with Randy and look forward to working together to unrig the system for everyday Americans in Wisconsin and around the country.”

“The corrosive impact of unlimited, undisclosed donations from the special interests, powerful elite and the ultra-rich casts aside the voice of the common people, and makes government the playground of the insiders and the wealthy — instead of serving the many,”said Randy Bryce. “I am proud that my people-powered campaign is averaging just $25 per donation, because we are fueled by grassroots movement for change that puts working people and everyday Wisconsinites first. I will never stop fighting to overturn the toxic Citizens United decision, and pass real, meaningful campaign finance reform that puts power squarely where it belongs — with the people.”

Speaker Ryan has committed himself to protecting the rigged system fueled by unlimited and undisclosed money in elections. He’s bought and paid for by the special interests who are backing his allied Super PAC, the Congressional Leadership Fund (CLF), which is almost entirely funded by secretive dark money. Ryan has helped lead the fight against bipartisan campaign finance reform bills like McCain-Feingold and the more recent DISCLOSE Act, which would increase disclosure in political spending. Ryan has also fought to block a constitutional amendment to overturn Citizens United, claiming that the Supreme Court made the right decision.

ECU is a grassroots-funded organization dedicated to electing members of Congress who, like Bryce, will fight to overturn Citizens United and pass meaningful campaign finance reform that will remove unlimited, undisclosed money from our political system. The grassroots PAC will connect Bryce’s campaign with its nearly 5,000 members in Wisconsin’s 1st congressional district and activate its 360,000 national donors to help ensure he has the resources to win. This cycle, with an average donation of $14, ECU has raised almost $2 million for its endorsed candidates. Founded two years ago, today the group has over three million members.
