End Citizens United (ECU) President Tiffany Muller released the below statement following the news that Congressman Darrell Issa (CA-49) will not seek re-election.
“Darrell Issa is a prime example of the rigged system in Washington, with a record of siding with his mega-donors and special interests at the expense of his constituents. He engaged in corrupt pay-to-play politics and voted to re-write the rules so they bend even further in favor of his donors. That’s exactly why End Citizens United named him to our Big Money 20 campaign to throw out the worst of Washington’s swamp.
“We will continue to expose the Big Money 20 politicians who are stacking the deck in Washington in favor of their donors and leaving American families behind. Come Election Day, there won’t be a voter in these states or districts who don’t know their records. Just like Congressman Issa, they will not be coming back to Congress”
Congressman Issa’s willingness to sell out his constituents earned him a spot on ECU’s “Big Money 20” campaign last December – part of a $35 million effort targeting incumbent politicians who represent the worst of Washington’s rigged system.
