Respected across the aisle, Cummings stood for justice and against corruption
End Citizens United President Tiffany Muller released the following statement regarding the passing of Chairman Elijah Cummings (MD-07):
“Chairman Elijah Cummings was a principled leader for Baltimore, the Democratic Party, and country. Cummings dedicated his life to the pursuit of justice, civil rights and fighting on behalf of his city and constituents against powerful special interests. A man of dignity and kindness, he commanded respect and admiration from both sides of the aisle.
“As Chairman of the House Oversight and Reform Committee, he was a formidable opponent of corruption and powerful advocate for meaningful democracy reforms and transparency in American government. While we mourn the passing of Chairman Cummings, we are reminded of and reinvigorated by his fierce commitment to justice and the highest ideals of our democracy.”
