End Citizens United President Tiffany Muller released the following statement on Senator Tom Udall’s announcement that he will not seek re-election in 2020:
“Senator Udall has been a leader in the fight against the special interests and dark money poisoning our democracy. He championed the Democracy for All amendment to overturn Citizens United and allow limits on corporate political spending. Senator Udall comes from a family of public servants dedicated to the idea that government should work for every American, not just the rich and powerful, and he built upon that legacy in the Senate.
“His leadership on getting big money out of politics will be missed in the Senate, but this is not the time for saying goodbye. End Citizens United will continue to fight alongside Sen. Udall to pass the For the People Act in the Senate and end the dominance of big money in politics.”
