NC-09 Countdown: Counting Up Dan Bishop’s Corporate PAC Money

Aug 14, 2019

In his state and federal races, Bishop has taken almost $90,000 in corporate PAC money

Dan McCready rejects all corporate PAC money

With less than a month until the special election in NC-09, Dan Bishop continues to fill his campaign coffers with corporate PAC checks from special interests. Dan McCready on the other hand, has sworn off corporate PAC money and is running a completely grassroots funded campaign, focused solely on serving the needs of North Carolina families.

Over the course of his political career, Dan Bishop has taken almost $90,000 in corporate PAC money, including thousands of dollars from big banks, oil and gas companies, big pharma, and the Koch Brothers. All voters have to do is follow the money to see who Dan Bishop would be primed to work for in Congress.

“Voters are tired of status quo politicians like Dan Bishop who will uphold the rigged system in Washington,” said End Citizens United President Tiffany Muller. “North Carolinians deserve a Congressman who will fight for them, not special interests. By rejecting corporate PAC money, Dan McCready is showing that he will do just that. McCready is running a people-powered campaign and is committed to bringing true reform to Washington.”

ECU is dedicated to getting Big Money out of politics and fixing the rigged system in Washington so it works for all Americans. The group played a pivotal role in helping to pass the For the People Act, a once-in-a-generation anti-corruption and reform bill. ECU also led the movement among candidates to forgo corporate PAC money in their campaigns. The reform group has four million members nationwide, including 5,700 in NC-09, and is entirely grassroots-funded with an average donation of just $14.
