Connecticut Hedge Fund Millionaire McCormick vs. Pennsylvania Ethics Champion Senator Casey

End Citizens United statement on David McCormick’s entry into Pennsylvania Senate race

In response to Connecticut Hedge Fund Millionaire David McCormick’s second attempt at buying a U.S. Senate seat in Pennsylvania, End Citizens United Communications Director Jonas Edwards-Jenks issued the following statement:

“After spending his life looking out for himself and his rich friends at the expense of working families, Connecticut Hedge Fund Millionaire David McCormick is once again trying to buy a Pennsylvania Senate seat. Thankfully, Pennsylvanians know that Senator Bob Casey is the only one in this race who puts the middle class ahead of the Big Money donor class. Senator Casey knows we can’t solve the issues facing working families until we get the corrosive and corrupting influence of Big Money out of politics—which is why he’s one of the strongest champions for ethics reforms and transparency in Washington.”

Senator Casey is a leader in the fight for anti-corruption and democracy reforms, earning him the endorsement of End Citizens United // Let America Vote. He co-sponsored critical legislation like the Freedom to Vote Act, which would end dark money in politics, protect the freedom to vote, establish ironclad ethics rules, and stop gerrymandering. Senator Casey also sponsored the Accessible Voting Act of 2021, and has consistently supported the DISCLOSE Act and the Democracy for All Amendment. Senator Casey has also fought for anti-corruption reforms, including helping to pass the Honest Leadership And Open Government Act, a major ethics bill that cracked down on the revolving door, and cosponsoring the Supreme Court Ethics Act, establishing ethics oversight for the Supreme Court.

Senator Casey earned an “A” on ECU // LAV’s  2022 legislative scorecard, a testament to his strong advocacy on anti-corruption and voting rights legislation.
