WASHINGTON – Today, on the sixth anniversary of the controversial Citizens United Supreme Court decision, End Citizens United (ECU) PAC officially endorsed Chief Val Demings for the U.S. House of Representatives in Florida’s 10th Congressional District. End Citizens United is a grassroots-funded organization that is dedicated to electing members of Congress who will fight to overturn Citizens United and advocate for campaign finance reform to remove “dark money” from our political system.
“Unlimited and undisclosed political contributions are corrupting our democracy,” said Reed Adamson, Senior Advisor for End Citizens United. “We need to elect bold leaders like Chief Demings to take on the corporate special interests that are trying to buy our elections. Our grassroots supporters are committed to sending her to Congress.”
“Washington is broken, and the voices of Floridians aren’t being heard in Congress. Cleaning up big money in politics is essential to fixing the problem,” said Chief Val Demings. “I’m ready to fight for the people of Florida’s 10th District by working hard to overturn Citizens United. I look forward to working with End Citizens United to make this goal a reality.”
End Citizens United supports candidates who are committed to campaign finance reform. Chief Demings supports a constitutional amendment to overturn Citizens United, as well as disclosure requirements that would end the era of untraceable money in our political system.
End Citizens United PAC was established in March 2015 to counter the disastrous effects of Citizens United and reform our campaign finance system. To date, more than one million grassroots supporters have signed their name to an online petition calling for a constitutional amendment to overturn Citizens United.
