… The other ad is from End Citizens United, which says it’s spending $1.4 million to run their commercial on broadcast and cable in the Boston/Manchester market, including WBIN-TV. The group says it’s also spending $240,000 to put up digital versions of the commercial.
The spot, titled “Town Hall,” shows a fictional Ayotte town hall, with citizens sitting on one side of the room, and three lobbyists in dark suits sitting on the other side of the room. The group says all of the people speaking in the ad are grassroots members of End Citizens United.
The commercial starts with a voter saying “I’d like to keep Medicare the way it is, thank you very much.”
A second voter then states “we’ve gotta get rid of the tax breaks for Big Oil.”
“Getting Kelly Ayotte to side with us… shouldn’t be this hard,” says the announcer.
The three lobbyists breakout in laughter after a third voter asks the fiction Ayotte “you vote for the things the Koch brothers want. Aren’t you supposed to work for us?”
The ad concludes with the announcer saying “Kelly Ayotte… looking out for the other guys, not you.“
End Citizens United is a year and a half old political action committee which touts on its website that it’s “ultimate goal is to do exactly what its name says: pass a constitutional amendment to reverse the 2010 U.S. Supreme Court decision that has led to the plethora of super PACs.”
“New Hampshire families need a Senator who fights for them every day. Instead, Senator Ayotte stands with the corporate special interests who fund her campaign and who have rigged the system to benefit themselves.” End Citizens United Executive Director Tiffany Muller said in a statement.
