Thanking Hassan with $1.2M ad buy. The progressive End Citizens United/Let America Vote Action Fund continues to pour major resources into New Hampshire to support Democratic U.S. Sen. Maggie Hassan
New Hampshire Primary Source has learned that today, the group is launching a $1.2 million television and digital ad campaign thanking Hassan for supporting the Freedom to Vote Act. The expenditure will bring to $3.7 million the amount the group has spent in support of Hassan and other members of the state’s congressional delegation so far this year.
A month ago, ECU/LAV spent $900,000 on an ad praising Hassan’s support for the same bill.
The launch comes a day after U.S. Senate Republicans blocked the John Lewis Voting Rights Act and two weeks after they blocked the Freedom to Vote Act.
“This bill ends dark money so that billionaires can’t buy elections, protects the freedom to vote for all Americans, stops partisan gerrymandering, and protects elections from sabotage, ensuring that trusted local officials are safe from intimidation and are able to count every vote,” ECU/LAV says.
“Senator Hassan has been a leader among leaders in the fight to get big money out of politics and protect access to the ballot, and she’s continuing that advocacy as the Senate deliberates the Freedom to Vote Act,” said group president Tiffany Muller.
“While self-serving politicians and their special interest allies seek to undermine our democracy and the voice of the American people, Senator Hassan is bringing her independent-minded approach to the Senate to make sure no one gets in the way of voters and the ballot box.”
The ad contains a Wilton couple praising Hassan for supporting the bill. The ad can be viewed here and below.
