End Citizens United President Tiffany Muller released the following statement congratulating Sylvia Garcia on her victory in the Texas 29th primary:
“Throughout her life, Sylvia has led by example and worked to create a community that gives every Texan the opportunity to succeed. She knows that we can’t have an America for all of us, if Congress is just working for some of us. ECU is proud to stand with Sylvia and we look forward to helping her continue to fight back against the special interests and mega-donors who rig the system for themselves.”
Garcia has been a vocal advocate for disclosure, and is committed to passing legislation to stop mega-donors from hiding their political spending. In her commitment to reform, Garcia supports the Democracy for All Amendment, which would overturn the disastrous Citizens United decision. She opposes efforts to repeal the Johnson Amendment which would allow political mega-donors to funnel more money into elections through churches and charities. Garcia also supports a bill that would shine a light on who’s spending money to influence voters in the district.
Last night ECU congratulated Beto O’Rourke and Veronica Escobar on their primary wins.
