End Citizens United (ECU) today endorsed Senator Debbie Stabenow for re-election. A fierce critic of the disastrous Citizens United decision, Stabenow has sponsored legislation to rein in the role of unlimited, undisclosed special interest money.
“Senator Stabenow has a proven record of fighting to fix the broken campaign finance system,” said ECU President Tiffany Muller. “She knows that the voices of Michigan families are drowned out when Big Money special interests are free to spend unlimited, untraceable sums of money in politics. We’re proud to endorse Senator Stabenow and look forward to helping her win in November.”
“The Citizens United decision is corrupting our political system and its effects are leaving Michigan families behind,” said Senator Stabenow. “Our elections should be decided by voters, not by billionaires with political agendas. I’m proud to be endorsed by End Citizens United and I look forward to working with them to root out Big Money in elections.”
In Michigan, ECU has also endorsed Matt Morgan (MI-01), Dan Kildee (MI-05), Gretchen Driskell (MI-07), and Elissa Slotkin (MI-08). The endorsement will help Stabenow compete with high-spending special interest groups by connecting her with its more than 107,000 grassroots members in Michigan, as well as its national network of 400,000 small-dollar donors.
ECU is an entirely grassroots-funded organization dedicated to electing members of Congress who will fight to get Big Money out of politics so Congress focuses on all of us and not only its biggest special interest donors.
