“Protests around our country in response to police brutality following the murder of George Floyd and far too many others this year forced a reckoning of the systemtic racism and inequality that has plagued our nation since its founding. Today’s passage of the George Floyd Justice in Policing Act is a step towards addressing police brutality and holding accountable officers who abuse their power. During this defining and critical moment in our country’s history, it’s incumbent upon all of us to fight harder against systemic racism.
