ECU was the first to file a complaint against Fox and the Trump campaign for illegal corporate contributions
End Citizens United (ECU) spokesperson Bawadden Sayed released the following statement in response to Fox’s comments about ECU’s FEC complaint filed against them:
“Fox has not denied the actual allegations.
“Their admission to sharing a public ad does not absolve them from the fact that they shared confidential information – including ads that had not yet aired on Fox, information about those ads, and debate strategy – with the Trump campaign. Whether or not the ad had run publicly on another platform is not material. It had not run on Fox yet, and that information alone is invaluable.
“The court documents revealed that Mr. Murdoch acted in a partisan manner – it had nothing to do with legitimate press activities. This amounts to an illegal corporate contribution.
“There’s more than enough evidence for the FEC to begin an investigation, and we’re confident that they’ll find reason to believe Fox and the Trump campaign broke the law.”
Last Friday, ECU filed a complaint with the Federal Election Commission against Fox News Corporation and Donald Trump’s campaign committee.
According to his sworn testimony in the Dominion lawsuit case, Rupert Murdoch, Chair of Fox Corporation, admitted to providing confidential information about then-candidate Biden’s ads and debate strategy that were obtained by Fox during the course of business to Trump’s re-election campaign.
Fox Corporation’s blatant action constitutes a corporate contribution, which – because Fox was not acting with a legitimate press function – is a violation of federal law.
