Now is the time for Democrats to pass their agenda to support working families, improve infrastructure, and most importantly, protect the freedom to vote
End Citizens United // Let America Vote President Tiffany Muller released the following statement regarding last night’s election results:
“Last night’s elections made it clear that the Democratic Party needs to deliver for voters and get them excited to show up at the ballot box.
“After months of negotiations, it‘s time for Democrats to pass their popular agenda to support working families, improve our infrastructure, and most importantly, protect the freedom to vote for every American. Voters overwhelmingly support this agenda because it gives power to the people, not corporate interests; protects American workers and the middle class; ensures women have the freedom to make their own health care decisions; and makes sure that every American has the right to vote no matter who they are or where they live.
*The top priority for Congress must be to immediately pass the Freedom to Vote Act and the John R. Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act to protect the voice and vote of the people in our democracy. Senate Democrats must do whatever it takes to pass these bills and must not let any loophole or outdated procedure stand in the way.
“If Democrats don’t deliver on this agenda, voters won’t be motivated to keep them in office, and we can expect similar results nationwide.”
