Webb is rejecting corporate PAC money
End Citizens United (ECU) and Let America Vote (LAV) today endorsed Dr. Cameron Webb for Congress in Virginia’s Fifth Congressional District. A physician and lawyer, Dr. Webb is rejecting corporate PAC money because he knows that making progress on issues important to Virginians, like access to affordable healthcare, isn’t possible without comprehensive reform.
“Dr. Cameron Webb is building a grassroots-powered campaign to bring a movement of change to Washington,” said ECU and LAV President Tiffany Muller. “Serving as a White House health advisor in both the Obama and Trump administrations, Webb knows how to work across party lines to get results for Virginians. In Congress, he’ll stand up against Big Money special interests and fight to lower the cost of prescription drugs and provide access to affordable healthcare. We’re proud to endorse Dr. Cameron Webb, and we look forward to helping him win.”
“My experience working in healthcare and health policy shed a light on the outsized influence corporate special interests have in our political system,” said Dr. Cameron Webb. “Removing the undue influence of dark money is critical to making progress on the most pressing issues affecting Virginians. I’m rejecting corporate PAC money in my campaign so that I’ll only be accountable to Virginia families in Congress. I’m proud to have ECU and LAV’s support, and I look forward to working alongside them to fight against corruption in Washington.”
ECU and LAV recently merged to combat the two biggest challenges facing our democracy: Big Money and voter suppression. ECU is dedicated to getting Big Money out of politics and fixing the rigged system in Washington so that the government works for all Americans. LAV is building a grassroots effort to fight back against voter suppression and protect every American’s right to vote.
ECU and LAV will work to end our rigged political system by electing reform champions, passing meaningful legislative reforms, and elevating these issues in the national conversation. ECU has more than four million members nationwide, including 6,900 in VA-05, and is entirely grassroots-funded with an average donation of just $14. In 2018, over 1,000 LAV grassroots volunteers knocked on over 340,000 doors, made 112,000 calls, and sent 341,000 texts to help elect 100 pro-democracy leaders.
