End Citizens United (ECU) and Let America Vote (LAV) President Tiffany Muller released the following statement on news that Representative Elissa Slotkin (MI-08) is advancing to the general election:
“Since the moment she was elected, Congresswoman Elissa Slotkin has fought to unrig the broken system in Washington. In 2018, Elissa won this battleground district by running a reform-focused campaign and rejecting corporate PAC money. In Congress, she led efforts to pass the For the People Act, the most sweeping anti-corruption, voting rights and ethics reform bill since Watergate, to stand up to Big Pharma on behalf of Michigan families. Elissa is staying laser-focused on delivering results for Michigan families. We’re proud to stand with Congresswoman Slotkin heading into November.”
ECU endorsed Slotkin’s re-election campaign in March 2019 as part of the group’s first round of House incumbent endorsements. Slotkin, who ran on a platform of reform in 2018, rejects corporate PAC money and showed leadership in the passage of the For the People Act (H.R.1). The reform group has four million members nationwide, including 8,300 in MI-08, and is entirely grassroots-funded with an average donation of just $14.
