End Citizens United (ECU) today endorsed Ayanna Pressley for U.S. House in Massachusetts’ 7th Congressional District. A long-time champion for Massachusetts families, Pressley has refused to accept corporate PAC donations throughout her campaign, and is committed to fighting for meaningful campaign finance reform.
“Ayanna Pressley understands that the undue influence of corporate special interests corrupts our democracy, which is why she’s running her campaign without a dime of corporate PAC money,” said ECU President Tiffany Muller. “Her pledge is proof positive that she will put people first and it has helped her earn the trust of voters who are demanding reform. We’re proud to endorse Ayanna and we look forward to working with her in Congress.”
“Our elected officials should be accountable to the people they represent, not corporate special interests,” said Pressley. “That’s why I pledged not to accept donations from corporate PACs during my campaign, and have committed to never accepting corporate PAC donations during my time in Congress. I strongly support ECU’s work, which is critical in shining a spotlight on the influence of corporate special interests in our politics, and elevating the trailblazing candidates across the country who are rejecting corporate PAC contributions. We need to keep working together to overturn Citizens United and end the outsize influence of corporate special interests on our politics – I look forward to working with ECU on this challenge, and I’m honored to have earned their endorsement.”
