End Citizens United (ECU) President Tiffany Muller issued the following statement congratulating Congressman-elect George Whitesides on being elected to California’s 27th Congressional District:
“Congratulations to Congressman-elect Whitesides on his incredible victory. His campaign is a testament to the power of standing up to corruption and putting the needs of working people ahead of corporate special interests. We’re proud to have supported Congressman-elect Whitesides’ campaign and look forward to working with him in Congress to root out corruption and protect our democracy.”
ECU endorsed Congressman-elect Whitesides in June 2024 and has been leading the fight in holding his Republican opponent, Mike Garcia, accountable for his corruption and self-dealing. ECU named Garcia to its “Most Corrupt” politicians list earlier this year, citing his violations of the STOCK Act and alleged insider trading. ECU also filed an ethics complaint against Garcia for this blatant breach of the public trust.
ECU is dedicated to combating the two biggest challenges facing our democracy: the corrosive impact of Big Money and attempts to block access to the ballot box. Since its founding in 2015, the group has had over 1 million donors and raised $200 million, with an average donation of just $14. The group has more than four million members nationwide.
