End Citizens United Denounces the U.S. Chamber of Commerce for Supporting Insurrectionists

Mar 08, 2021

Following the deadly attempted insurrection on January 6, the U.S. Chamber of Commerce announced that it would hold “some” of the 147 Republican members of Congress accountable by cutting them off from campaign contributions. Last Friday, the group made its position clear, stating it will not stop its political contributions to members who solely voted against certifying the electoral college.

“The U.S. Chamber of Commerce’s decision to support Republican members of Congress who voted to decertify the election sets a dangerous precedent. They’re normalizing Republican attacks on our democratic norms and the rule of law. This is a shameful move – one that will embolden Republicans to continue promoting the ‘Big Lie’, and sow doubt among voters about the fairness of our elections,” said End Citizens United President Tiffany Muller.

“The Chamber’s corporate donors must step up and unequivocally denounce this decision, and follow the lead of other corporations by cutting off their financial support.”
