Kirkpatrick committed to ending the rigged system, enacting meaningful campaign finance reform
End Citizens United (ECU) today endorsed Ann Kirkpatrick for Congress in Arizona’s 2nd Congressional district.
“Too many members of Congress are wearing earmuffs made of special interest money. They’re not listening to the people they were elected to represent,” said End Citizens United President Tiffany Muller. “Ann Kirkpatrick is committed to getting unlimited and secret special interest money out of politics so that everyday Americans can have their voices heard. Voters in the district are searching for a leader who will work to unrig the system. We look forward to connecting our grassroots members with Ann’s campaign to help her win this pivotal seat next November.”
“I am grateful to have support from End Citizens United because politics in our country has been tilted away from ordinary families and dominated by secret agendas from big money and big corporations. We need transparency and we need fairness,” said Ann Kirkpatrick.
“Ann has spent her life fighting for Arizona families. Whether it’s fixing our roads and bridges, defending Medicare, supporting the Affordable Care Act or creating an economy that works for everyone, Ann has stood up against the special interests,” said former AZ-02 Congressman Ron Barber, a member of ECU’s board of directors. “We need to end the rigged system where politicians in Washington do the bidding of their mega-donors at the expense of everyone else. Together Ann and ECU will do exactly that.”
ECU’s endorsement will help Kirkpatrick compete with high-spending special interest groups by connecting her with its 11,000 grassroots members in AZ-02, as well as to its national network of 380,000 small-dollar donors. With an average donation of $14, ECU is projected to raise $35 million for the 2018 election cycle.
ECU is a grassroots fueled organization giving a voice to millions of American families. The group is dedicated to overturning Citizens United and passing meaningful campaign finance reform that will return the power of government to the people.
