Sumter, SC – End Citizens United (ECU) today endorsed Archie Parnell for Congress.
“Archie Parnell finished the South Carolina primary with over 70% of the vote and has shown that he has grassroots support as he heads into the general election,” said ECU President and Executive Director Tiffany Muller. “In Congress, Parnell will fight for reform to get Big Money out of politics and give everyday South Carolinians a voice in our democracy.”
“I’m thrilled to have the endorsement of End Citizens United. ECU has carried the banner on campaign finance reform and fought to end the rigged system in Washington. For too long, politicians have been in the pockets of special interests, and as Congressman, I promise to be an independent voice for South Carolina,” said Parnell.
End Citizens United was established in March 2015 to counter the harmful effects of Citizens United and reform our campaign finance system. Last month, ECU announced that it raised $4 million in the first quarter of 2017 with 100,000 donors who gave an average contribution of $14. It projects it will raise $35 million for the 2018 cycle, surpassing the $25 million it raised for the 2016 elections.
The grassroots group is entirely funded by small-dollar, grassroots donors and has grown to over 3 million members, including over 29,000 in South Carolina. It was the 3rd largest federal PAC of the 2016 cycle.
