Raybould joins growing list of ECU-endorsed candidates who refuse corporate PAC money
Her opponent, Sen. Fischer, receives nearly half of her money from special interests
End Citizens United (ECU) today endorsed Jane Raybould for U.S. Senate in Nebraska. Earlier this week, Raybould announced that she is rejecting all corporate PAC money in her campaign. Her commitment is part of a growing trend – with more than 80 candidates rejecting corporate PAC money this cycle, including Senate candidates Beto O’Rourke and Gary Trauner. ECU is leading efforts to encourage candidates to refuse corporate special interest money.
“Nebraskans are fed up with Washington ignoring their needs, and they’re demanding reform,” said ECU President Tiffany Muller. “By rejecting corporate PAC money, Jane Raybould is showing voters that she’s running to represent them and fight for their interests. Unlike her opponent, Senator Fischer, Jane is showing Nebraskans that she’s listening. ECU is proud to endorse her campaign and we look forward to helping her get her reform message out to voters.”
“It’s no secret: Washington is broken and it’s not listening to the hardworking people of Nebraska,” said Jane Raybould, candidate for U.S. Senate. “Nebraskans deserve a leader free from the grip of special interests which is exactly why I’m rejecting all corporate PAC money in my campaign. My vote can’t be bought. I’m proud to be endorsed by ECU and I look forward to working with them to end the role of Big Money in our democracy.”
With a recent Gallup poll showing that 90% of Americans believe the government is working for the benefit of a few big interests, a robust reform agenda is critical to winning support from voters, particularly independents. Notably, ECU polling has found that 62% of voters believe that a candidate refusing corporate PAC money is a sign that the candidate is serious about reform.
ECU’s endorsement will help Raybould compete with high-spending special interest groups by connecting her with its more than 14,000 grassroots members in Nebraska.
ECU is an entirely grassroots-funded organization dedicated to electing members of Congress who will fight to get Big Money out of politics so Congress focuses on all of us and not only its biggest special interest donors.
