End Citizens United Endorses Sri Preston Kulkarni in TX-22

Nov 12, 2019

Kulkarni is rejecting corporate PAC money

End Citizens United (ECU) today endorsed Sri Preston Kulkarni for Congress in Texas’ 22nd Congressional District. A lifelong public servant and national security expert, Kulkarni is rejecting corporate PAC money and building a people-powered campaign of small, individual donors.

“Sri Preston Kulkarni has dedicated his career to strengthening our democracy, and he’ll continue that fight in Congress,” said End Citizens United President Tiffany Muller. “Texans want leaders who will stand up to the corruption in Washington and fight for them. Sri’s refusal to take money from corporate PACs proves he will prioritize Texas families, not corporate special interest groups. End Citizens United is proud to endorse Sri Preston Kulkarni, and we look forward to helping him win.”

“Middle class families deserve a representative in Washington,” said Sri Preston Kulkarni. “I’m running for US Congress because our voices are being drowned out. We know that powerful special interests with unlimited amounts of money are spreading hateful messages in an effort to divide us. We Texans are tired of the partisan dysfunction and the corrupting influence of money in politics. I will work every day to stand up for Texas families. I’m proud to earn End Citizens United’s endorsement, and I look forward to fighting for reform alongside them.”

Kulkarni joins a growing movement of candidates rejecting corporate PAC money throughout the country, and specifically in Texas, where Democrats in some of the state’s most competitive races are turning down this money, including Wendy Davis (TX-21), Gina Ortiz Jones (TX-23), Colin Allred (TX-32), and MJ Hegar (TX-Senate). With rapidly growing and diverse populations, Democrats are poised to be competitive in Texas in 2020. This includes Texas’ 22nd Congressional District, where incumbent Rep. Pete Olson is retiring and Beto O’Rourke came within a .6 percent margin of winning in 2018.

ECU is dedicated to getting Big Money out of politics and fixing the rigged system in Washington D.C. so government works for all Americans. The reform group has four million members nationwide, including 3,900 in TX-22, and is entirely grassroots-funded with an average donation of just $14.
