End Citizens United has officially endorsed Stephanie Murphy for Congress. Murphy is running to represent Florida’s 7th Congressional District.
End Citizens United (ECU) is a grassroots-funded organization that is dedicated to electing members of Congress who, like Murphy, will fight to overturn Citizens United and to pass campaign finance reform that will remove unlimited, secret money from our political system.
“Whether it is protecting our national security or serving Florida and her local community, Stephanie Murphy has shown a deep commitment to ensuring that our families have a strong, safe, and bright future,” said Tiffany Muller, Executive Director for ECU. “She’ll take that same commitment to Congress and put problem-solving ahead of politics. While Stephanie will stand up to special interests, her opponent, Congressman John Mica, has built a record on protecting the handful of multimillionaires and billionaires who are rigging the system to benefit themselves. ECU looks forward to working with Stephanie Murphy to give a voice to working families and to end the corrosive influence that unlimited anonymous money has on our politics.”
“There is too much money in politics, plain and simple,” said Murphy. “The disastrous Citizens United Supreme Court decision opened the floodgates of dark, special interest money that is damaging our political process and preventing Congress from actually getting results for American families. I’m proud to accept the endorsement of End Citizens United, because it’s past time to repeal Citizens United, bring more accountability and transparency into our political process, and take the reins of government back from the special interests. As a Member of Congress, I’ll fight to pass campaign finance reform so that we can force Congress to actually listen to the American people – not the lobbyists lining their own pockets.”
Information on the candidates endorsed by End Citizens United, including their answers to the ECU questionnaire, can be found here.
End Citizens United PAC was established in March 2015 to counter the disastrous effects of Citizens United and reform our campaign finance system. To date, more than 1.5 million grassroots members from every state and territory have taken action to support End Citizens United.
