Washington, D.C. — End Citizens United (ECU) today endorsed three new candidates running for House, all of whom are committed to getting Big Money out of politics. The endorsed candidates are: Josh Harder (CA-10), Katie Hill (CA-25), and Steven Horsford (NV-04).
“Americans are fed up with the rigged system in Washington where mega-donors and special interests dictate the conversation,” said Tiffany Muller, President of End Citizens United. “We’re seeing incredible grassroots support for candidates — like Josh, Katie, and Steven — who are rejecting special interest money and committed to ending Big Money’s stranglehold over our democracy. Our grassroots members are eager and excited to get to work helping them win in November.”
A recent bipartisan poll conducted by the George W. Bush Institute, the University of Pennsylvania’s Biden Center and Freedom House shows that money in politics is one of the top reasons people believe the government does not represent them. This follows a Washington Post-University of Maryland poll conducted last October that shows Americans blame money in politics as the number one cause of dysfunction in the U.S. political system. Americans’ concerns about money in politics is fueling a wave of candidates in this election that make money in politics a central issue in their campaigns, with more than 140 of them outright rejecting corporate PAC money, as reported in USA Today last week.
End Citizens United is dedicated to getting Big Money out of politics and fixing the rigged system in Washington so it works for all Americans. It is working to elect members of Congress who will fight to overturn Citizens United and pass meaningful reforms. End Citizens United has over four million members and is entirely grassroots-funded, with an average donation of just $14.
