End Citizens United // Let America Vote President Tiffany Muller released the below statement ahead of former President Trump’s rally in Michigan for Secretary of State candidate Kristina Karamo and Attorney General candidate Matthew DePerno:
“Former President Trump is in Michigan today because he knows that conspiracy theorists Kristina Karamo and Matthew DePerno will do his bidding instead of listening to the will of Michigan voters in future elections. All three of them live in an alternate universe where facts and truth do not matter. If elected, they will use their disinformation to restrict the freedom to vote in Michigan and use their positions to further undermine faith in Michigan elections.
“Despite right-wing conspiracies and disinformation, Michigan voters know that they have two champions of democracy in Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson and Attorney General Dana Nessel. Both of them have carried out their jobs honorably and truthfully, which has led to Michigan having one of the safest, most transparent, secure, and accessible election systems in the entire country. We look forward to continuing to work with them to uphold and protect Michiganders’ ability to have a voice and vote in their democracy.”
Earlier this week, End Citizens United // Let America Vote held a press call with Secretary Benson to emphasize the importance of defeating Trump’s election-denying, conspiracy theorist candidates, and highlighted how ECU // LAV’s $7 million Democracy Defenders program will help Democratic candidates win in key secretary of state and attorney general elections across the country.
